Are Minecraft Servers Down? What people usually mean

Search traffic uses slightly different phrases — are minecraft servers down, mc servers down, mc down, is minecraft servers down, mojang server status, or minecraft authentication servers status. In practice, those questions fall into two buckets:

  • One multiplayer server (Hypixel, a realm you play on, a small SMP): use our Minecraft Server Status Checker with the hostname or IP.
  • Login / online mode / skins (launcher errors, “authentication servers”, “cannot connect to Realms”): that is usually Mojang session or Microsoft Xbox Live / Minecraft Services — the live rows at the top of this page probe those public endpoints.

Are Minecraft auth servers down?

Realms run on Mojang/Microsoft infrastructure separate from a random public SMP. If Java login and Xbox services look fine but only Realms fails, check Minecraft Help and official status channels for Realms incidents. Our probes target general session and API hosts, not an internal Realms-only endpoint.

Java Edition still relies on Mojang session infrastructure and Microsoft services for modern accounts. We probe public HTTPS endpoints (session server, Minecraft Services API, launcher metadata CDN, textures, Mojang API). A green row means we could complete a TLS connection and get an HTTP response from that host — it is not the same as an official incident feed.

Yes. Your multiplayer server can respond to pings even when players cannot authenticate to join online-mode servers. Offline mode servers may still accept players depending on configuration. Compare our live checks with what you see in the launcher and on the official Xbox status page.

How often are these checks updated?

Results are cached briefly to avoid hammering third-party infrastructure. Use the Refresh button for a new run (rate limited to a few seconds between refreshes per browser session). If Cloudflare Turnstile is enabled on this site, you must complete the captcha on each refresh.
